Workflow automation: Rubmedia agency opts for Heidelberg for new website

Rubmedia has installed an automated digital printing production line with manufacturer Heidelberg.

At its new production site in Köniz, Switzerland, Rubmedia has taken a major step towards modernizing its operations. The agency, which combines content creation and printing, has invested in a complete digital sheet-fed printing solution, built around two Heidelberg presses, the Jetfire 50 and the Versafire LV, coupled with the Prinect workflow.

The 35-strong company defines itself as a communications service provider focused on cross-media publications. Its offer covers design, copywriting, photo studio, automated page layout and manufacturing of personalized print media. In this integrated model, consistency between graphic production and manufacturing is a key issue.

Installation of the two Heidelberg printing systems took place in May. The choice of German manufacturer Heidelberg is based on the integration of the presses into a global ecosystem, from order intake to finished product output. The Jetfire 50 and Versafire LV presses are connected to Prinect Production, which enables centralized color control and unified data management.

"By combining the âeuros Jetfire and Versafire systems and integrating them with Prinect Business Manager and Prinect Production Manager âeuros Rubmedia has created an end-to-end solution covering the entire workflow, from order acceptance and production through to post-printing." explains the German manufacturer.

For Michel Kläy, co-owner of Rubmedia, digital processes have become indispensable: "The structure of our orders and the trend towards customized printed products clearly speak in favor of digital printing processes." he explains.

The two printing technologies serve complementary purposes. Heidelberg's Jetfire 50 sheetfed inkjet model handles high-value-added, personalized applications, while the Versafire LV toner press handles production of everyday media (business cards, envelopes, leaflets).

The agency, which wants to move towards manual-free production, particularly for standardized orders, now plans to link Prinect Business Manager to several online stores, so that requests pass directly into the workflow.
