LP2i Étiquettes, based in Carros in the Alpes-Maritimes, has modified its process for multilayer labels. The converter, active in many sectors including food and pharmaceuticals, has installed a hybrid line that enables direct printing on adhesive. The printer can now produce booklet labels with fewer manufacturing steps than before.
Received a year ago, this new hybrid printing line combines the N730i 7-color inkjet press, the K600i monochrome module from British manufacturer Domino, and a DCL2 converting and finishing station from Polish manufacturer Grafotronic. It is also equipped with a Lake Image Systems inspection system, a subsidiary of the Domino Group.
This package, and in particular the K600i, enables printing directly on the adhesive. This approach reduces unwinding and rewinding operations, simplifying the production of extended-content labels, which are increasingly necessary to integrate more and more regulatory information.
Company founder and CEO Patrice Néri explains: "What impressed us most was the ease with which we can now provide our customers with multipage. That's fantastic. Before, we were doing it digitally, but we were doing complexing, putting several layers on top of each other, and we had technical constraints that we don't have now. It increases our productivity and profitability, because we end up saving on materials and time."
Axel Néri, operator at LP2i Étiquettes, adds: "I can print on the adhesive in monochrome, which is very easy, while printing with the N730i. We started at 70 mètres per minute, then we went up to 90 mètres per minute, which is extremely fast âeuros it's a total innovation".
In addition to traditional text, the K600i monochrome module can print variable data and 2D codes. This configuration makes it possible to personalize each label layer.
What's more, the white ink applied with the N730i creates a uniform background and improves text legibility, even for micro-characters (2pt).
Quality control is based on a Lake Image Systems system, which checks printing and codes. Downstream, the Grafotronic line manages unwinding, rewinding and layer assembly.
