Derogation for municipal propaganda papers 2020

Urgent and important information for printers.

The Ministry of the Interior has granted an exemption on paper weight for election propaganda materials used in the 2020 municipal elections on 15 and 22 March.

Whereas only 70 g/m² papers 2 had been authorised, the circulars (or professions of faith of the candidates) may be printed on papers ranging from 60 to 80 g/m 2 under this measure granted on March 3. Ballots had already been exempted from this single weighting on December 27th.

This relaxation was achieved through the work of the National Union of Printing and Communication Industries (Uniic). "The question was mainly for the professions of faith, given the 70 gram shortage throughout the country." says Pascal Bovéro, president of the professional employers' organisation of the graphic industries.

"Both the machinability problems associated with the lower grammages and the possible issues of double-sided printability helped to enlighten the public authorities about the constraints on printers" details the Uniic.

The reimbursement rates remain the same.
