The Swiss manufacturer of large-format printers swissQprint has challenged all its customers to send the most original, complex and intriguing objects made on a machine of the brand. And the results live up to the competition's statement.
Of the 65 entries selected, here are the six that stood out...
1st place: 3D-Kopf (Austria)

First place goes to 3D-Kop from the digital printing company Haas Werbetechnik in Austria. The company combined the 3D effects of the Droptix and relief printing.
2nd place: Privathaus M by Erwin Hüttl (Austria)

The Privathaus M is a large-format work of art (1583 x 1024 mm) with unusual varnish effects. The varnish and ink reproduce a painter's brushstroke. It was produced on a Nyala 3 by the Erwin Hüttl painting and interior design studio in Austria.
3rd place: Ideoopack by Raunjak Intermedias (Austria)

Made on silver cardboard and acrylic panel, the Ideoopack promotional box (197 x 105 x 30 mm) shows all the possibilities of UV printing.
It presents visual and tactile effects mixing white, varnish and the effect of Droptix . It was realized by the marketing agency Raunjak Intermedias in Austria and on an Oryx 3.
4th place: a mosaic effect by Biksad (Turkey)

The mosaic replica (555 x 410 mm) is a museum facsimile made on a reproduction of mosaic texture on handmade paper. It was made by the Biksad School of Art located in Turkey on an Impala 3.
5th place: Bio Club posters by Shoei (Japan) and Natur by Schilder Systeme (Austria)

Ingenious and sophisticated printing according to the jury: the Bio Club posters were printed on 840 x 593 mm lenticular paper using a Nyala 2 printer from SwissQprint and produced by the Shoei printing house in Japan.
Natur by Schilder Systeme
Natur from the Austrian-based printer Schilder Systeme combines natural and artificial materials with printed textures (mixed wood, stainless steel, 600 x 400 mm anodized aluminum). It was produced on a Nyala.
A wide variety of applications and effects
"While the Austrians dominated the list of winners, the entry was international." notes Petra Fetting, the contest organizer. Entries came from 20 countries in North America, Europe and Asia. This was the second edition of the contest, the first having taken place in 2016. "This year's enrollment has exceeded our expectations in every way." .
Petra Fetting continues: "We've received an extremely wide range of applications." She also notes that many unusual media were treated and that many artistic productions were included in the applications, as well as textured and relief prints combined in part with the effect of Droptix . "Our customers have shown in incredible style how versatile our wide format printers are." she sums up.
