La Cartonnerie de l'Ondaine (42) invests to increase quality and reduce lead times

It increases productivity by 15% while improving the quality of the plates delivered.

Cartonnerie de l'Ondaine of the Cartonneries de Gondardennes group has begun an investment plan worth 3 million euros to modernise its production line.

Located in Andrézieux-Bouthéon in the Loire region, the Cartonnerie de la Loire, with a staff of nearly 60 people, has a corrugator that produces approximately 100 million square metres of corrugated board per year for converters in the southern half of France.

The corrugator is now equipped with new strapping machines and an automatic palletizer. And this summer, the complete renovation of this line will be completed with the installation of transfer belts and a new lower stack guard.
This equipment will improve the presentation of the stacks of plates for an optimized use on lines equipped with depalletizer and pre-vacuum.

"The end of the line was a bottleneck, explains Michel Smets, Commercial Director of Cartonneries de Gondardennes and Cartonnerie de l'Ondaine. These investments have led to a productivity gain of around 15% on this machine . " This enables the cardboard industry to respond in a shorter time frame to increased demand.
"And we can offer a better quality on the products delivered to our customers by preserving the quality of the plates during the strapping" he adds.

The Cartonneries de Gondardennes group, which specialises in the manufacture of corrugated board sheets, is made up of three sites: Les Cartonneries de Gondardennes, located in Wardrecques near Saint-Omer in the Pas-de-Calais, the group's head office, Lacaux Frères in Bosmie-l'Aiguille near Limoges in the Vienne department, and Cartonnerie de l'Ondaine.
