The trade fair, which is normally held every three years, had 2,865 exhibitors and 170,500 visitors from more than 170 countries at the previous edition.
Messe Düsseldorf, the organizer of Interpack and also of the graphic arts trade fair Drupa, is thus following the recommendation of the crisis management team of the German Federal Government and the Robert Koch Institute in view of the significant increase in the number of people infected with the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in Europe.
"The decision was made in close consultation with our advisory board and our sponsors." Werner M. Dornscheidt, President of Messe Düsseldorf, said in a statement.
