Cloître (29) sales strongly impacted by containment but still on the rise

The printing works should have achieved sales growth of 6%, but the two weeks of containment reduced the increase in turnover to 1.7%.

Cloitre Imprimeurs' fiscal year ended with an unprecedented period for the company of 115 employees: the 2018/2019 fiscal year ended on March 31 in the middle of a period of containment. Like many printing works, from 17 March, the company located in Finistère faced numerous order cancellations.

A turnover cut by two very busy weeks

In the last two weeks of March, Cloitre Imprimeurs recorded an 80% drop in sales. "We would otherwise have had to end up with an increase of over 6% over the previous year." says Christophe Dudit, the CEO of the offset and digital printing company. Nevertheless, the company closed the financial year with a turnover of 14?250?000 euros, an increase of 1.6%.

"March and April (as well as October and November) are very busy months for us. In particular, we have many orders in culture, such as posters for concerts and festivals, and in tourism, with catalogues" says Marie-Claire Franchet, Director of Communications.

Activity is slowly resuming

Nevertheless, the company continued to produce throughout the containment period. And this month of June finally sees the beginnings of a recovery.

"Activity is quivering... We have a growing order intake, although we're not yet at the usual level."

Caution is called for. "The projects for the reception area for example or investments in machinery are currently on hold... We are still waiting for the coming year, and at the beginning of July we should have better visibility. But we're not giving up!"

Marie-Claire Franchet points out: "We also see a strong solidarity with our customers, everyone is doing their best to support each other in this time of crisis, it's hot at c?ur?!"
