Top 5 French publishers

According to the magazine's ranking Weekly Books published in its 19 June issue, the top 5 publishers in France 2019 are the Hachette group (with a turnover of 2.384 billion euros, including 834 for the French market), followed by Editis (733 million euros), Madrigall (571 million euros), the Belgian group Média-Participations (555 million euros) and Lefebvre-Sarrut (524 million euros). These top five positions are identical to last year's ranking.

Changes to food labels

On 27 May 2020, the draft law on the transparency of information on agricultural and food products was definitively adopted by the National Assembly. This new law modifies the mandatory information to be mentioned on various food and beverage labels.
Among the measures included in the new law is the obligation from now on to indicate on the label the name and address of the producer of beers produced in France, or as of 1 January 2010, the name and address of the producer of beers produced in France er as of 1 January 2021, the indication of all countries of origin of the harvest in descending order by weight on the label for honey composed of a mixture of honeys.

New dates in the Finat calendar

The European self-adhesive label industry association Finat has announced the new dates for its next two international events. The technical seminar scheduled for March will take place from 2 to 4 December 2020 and the European Label Forum (ELF), originally organised in June, has been postponed from 2 to 4 June 2021. Both events will be held in Barcelona, Spain.

Tetra Pak commitment to zero net emissions by 2030

The Swiss-based group Tetra Pak is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030. "The ambition is to achieve net zero GHG emissions across the entire value chain by 2050."
To achieve this, Tetra Pak will focus on four areas: reducing energy-related emissions, reducing the carbon footprint through partnerships with suppliers and other stakeholders along the value chain, developing its portfolio of low-carbon circular packaging and equipment, and developing sustainable recycling value chains through collaboration.

Launch of a new adhesive for the medical sector

The paper manufacturer Lecta adds a reference to its range of adhesives for the health sector Adestor with Adestor Laser 60 LB DfE.
This new face with a better environmental efficiency than the other references is intended for small diameter labelling applications used in the analytical processes generally employed in laboratories. This new quality is compatible with various variable data printing technologies.
