Pantone Color Match Card, the card that calibrates colors with a simple smartphone

Pantone's new solution provides access to all Pantone on all devices and allows designers to accurately measure colours with their phones.

This is not Pantone's first smartphone application. But this time with the Pantone Connect platform, the American group is taking the digital colour matching of the physical world even further.

Pantone Connect provides access to all Pantone colours on iOS and Android smartphones with the Pantone Connect application, on the web and with Adobe Creative Cloud authoring software. In addition, with the Pantone Color Match Card, Pantone Connect also allows you to capture a color accurately with a phone's camera.

Pantone Color Match Card is an accessory the size of a credit card. Printed in different Pantone colours that serve as a standard, it has an opening in the centre to be affixed to the real life colour you wish to capture.
The smartphone can then accurately measure this color, match it with Pantone shades and store it in the designer's palette workflow.

"Designers were already taking pictures with their phones to capture Pantone colours from images, but the results were more inspired than accurate, due to various factors such as poor lighting or camera performance" said Nick Bazarian, Pantone's Product Manager for Digital Solutions.

With the Color Match Card and the Pantone Connect app, the phone becomes "a legitimate colour capture device to more accurately match the physical world and Pantone shades, as well as a workflow productivity tool to speed up the colour communication process, at a nominal cost".
