1000 solar panels on the site of a printing plant

This Brussels printing plant will thus become the first printing plant in Belgium to operate with two thirds of renewable energy.

The Belgian press group IPM, which owns, among others, the newspapers La Libre Belgique and La Dernière Heure/Les Sports has installed 1000 solar panels on the site of its printing plant in the municipality of Anderlecht in Brussels. IPM XPress print (formerly Sodimco) has thus become the first printing plant in Belgium to operate with two thirds of renewable energy, according to the company La Libre Eco . The facility was inaugurated at the end of June in the presence of the Brussels Minister of the Environment. The majority of the panels were installed directly on the ground (a plot was available), and the rest on the company's roof.

«? This installation will make it possible to cover one third of the building's energy consumption. 270?000 kWh can be produced, the equivalent of around 100 households. The investment amounts to 300?000 euros?, explained to the Belgian media Alexandre Pirson, founder of Enerinvest, which assists companies in the production of renewable energy.

Solar panels in fashion at Belgian printers

Although not very famous for its sunshine, Belgium seems to be particularly receptive to this type of initiative. In 2018, it was in Kortrijk that employees of the INNI printing works, which specialises in printing entrance tickets, became co-investors in 2?000 high-efficiency photovoltaic panels installed on the company's roof. And in 2019, the Graphius printing group, also based in Belgium, announced that it was embarking on a major investment project: the installation of 3,350 photovoltaic solar panels at a cost of 900?000 euros.
