At the Edicolor printing plant, a dynamic of re-conquest is set in motion

After a difficult period, employees are rewarded for their efforts. In September 2020, the printing plant doubled the target it had set itself in terms of turnover.

The continuation plan for the Edicolor printing plant was approved by the Rennes Commercial Court on 23 September. A decision welcomed with relief by the printer, especially since - covid obliges - the recovery period will have lasted 3 months longer than the legal period, i.e. 21 months instead of 18. At issue were the delays accumulated by the courts due to the health crisis and containment.

Protecting know-how rather than breaking the tool

The reorganization proceedings had been initiated following the printer's difficulties in repaying a bank loan. Excessively high maturities in a context of declining activity had put the printing works in difficulty.

To get out of this situation, a lot of effort has been made internally," explains Louheñvel Oger, the president of Edicolor. In terms of schedules, in terms of services, in terms of efficiency in methods.

"?Nous have played on many levers to improve the company's performance. Our satisfaction is that we were able to do so without having to put in place a redundancy plan.?»

The colour chart market is reinventing itself

Rather than undertake a social plan or divest itself of part of its activities, the printing company preferred to build on its strengths, particularly its specialisation in colour cards.

Like all companies in the sector, Edicolor has been affected by the health crisis and the period of containment. But it has not closed its doors. At the height of the crisis, it had 30% of its workforce on site.

"?C 'is a market that's bouncing back today. Beyond the classic colour chart, the folding card, or the fan card, there is an evolution in other ways of distributing colours, for example digital. It is satisfying for us to see that the product has proved its durability and that it is a buoyant market.?»

The results are in. In September 2020, the printing works doubled the target it had set itself in terms of turnover. "?Une healthy momentum to win back is set in motion and the teams have followed suit. Today the employees are rewarded with their efforts?", rejoices Louheñvel Oger.

Located in Bain de Bretagne, south of Rennes (35), the Edicolor printing works has several hats: commercial offset printing, variable data digital printing, reel-to-reel labels, and large format signage. It currently has 126 employees.
