The plant will strengthen its position in the market for e-commerce packaging boards and high-quality consumer goods packaging.

The Austrian Mayr-Melnhof Group will invest 18 million euros in the production of folding boxes at Neupack in Hirschwang, Austria. It wants to conquer the market for e-commerce and high-quality packaging.

The investment plan is intended to strengthen the site's international competitiveness in the growing markets for e-commerce packaging and high-quality printed packaging made of microflute board for consumer goods (food, pet food or household appliances).

The 18 million euros will be used to build a production hall and expand the warehouse as well as to equip the plant with new printing technology, cutting machines and extensive automation.

Last September, the group, which employs 10?000 people worldwide and has a turnover of 2.5 billion euros in packaging and cardboard production, announced the shutdown of the corrugator in this plant, a machine built in 1952. 150 employees were laid off.

The solid board plant now employs 215 people.
