Heidelberg divests itself of its Belgian production site for printing chemicals

Heidelberg will continue to offer printing chemicals as part of its consumables strategy.

Heidelberg has sold its Belgian production site for the printing of chemical products to Druck Chemie, a subsidiary of the English Langley Group, for approximately 20.5 million euros. The sale has been effective since Saturday, December 12, 2020.

Langley is an engineering group that produces equipment for a wide range of industries, including the printing industry. Its 300-strong Druck Chemie subsidiary works in partnership with leading press manufacturers (Heidelberg, but also Manroland, Goss, KBA, etc.).

This sale includes the companies BluePrint Products and Hi-Tech Chemicals, which operate the production site located in Kruibeke, Belgium. This site, which employs around 40 people, develops and manufactures high-quality printing chemicals for flexographic and offset printing, mainly for the packaging and commercial markets. These consumables will continue to be offered by Heidelberg.

"With this divestiture of printing chemicals production, we continue our realignment and focus on our core business, said Rainer Hundsdörfer, CEO of Heidelberg. We will use the freed-up funds to preserve our liquidity during the covid-19 pandemic period and to continue our strategic investments in our digital transformation"
