The Thallo web offset packaging business of the Dutch Contiweb Group is to be transferred to manroland Goss. The German web press group and Contiweb yesterday signed a sales agreement covering the intellectual property of the Thallo presses.
Launched in 2016, the Contiweb Thallo range is a modular hybrid printing system (offset, digital, flexo and gravure) for printing labels and packaging on plastic film, paper and cardboard and metallized substrates and for security printing applications, available in three widths (520, 850 and 1,050 mm). It is designed and manufactured by the Dutch company DG press on behalf of Contiweb.
"The acquisition of the Thallo packaging technology and business allows manroland Goss to expand its product portfolio, explains CEO Franz Kriechbaum. "In addition to our fully automated and highly flexible Varioman packaging solution, the Thallo press will strengthen our position in the growing packaging market. New presses, spare and wear parts, hotline support and all other after-sales services will be available through a single point of contact: Goss manroland."
At the same time, manroland Goss is working to lay the groundwork for a commercial collaboration with DG press. The Dutch company behind the presses is expected to play a key role in the future "an important role in the manufacture and development of the Thallo presses." .
With the divestment of this business, Contiweb will concentrate on its other activities, namely the supply of auxiliary systems such as reelstands, gluers and dryers for web offset and digital printing lines.
