A major packaging printing plant being set up in Germany

The machine park, which exceeds one million euros, will be signed manroland Goss.

A highly automated packaging printing plant will open by the end of 2021. Located in Germany, this new production site will be dedicated to frozen pizza boxes. Germans consume one billion frozen pizzas every year and volumes continue to grow.

Currently named Rosa, this new packaging printing centre is announced as "the most modern in Europe" by manroland Goss, who was chosen to equip the site.

The German manufacturer reveals that the centrepiece of its press fleet, which exceeds one million euros, is a Varioman c:line web offset press.

"We have already installed a Varioman, but an f:line, which is designed for the production of shrink films/shrink sleeves. This Varioman c:line (the "c" stands for cardboard in English, NLDR) will be the first one that we, manroland Goss, will install." says Daniel Raffler, Chief Corporate Officer of manroland Goss.

Varioman c:line rotary press in the heart of the printing plant

The fully automated cardboard printing press will be configured with five offset printing units, plus a special printing unit, a flexo unit, an electron beam drying unit and an inline rotary die-cutting unit.
This printing and cutting line will produce pizza boxes at speeds of up to 400 metres per minute, i.e. 2?500 boxes in a standard format and with the best printing quality.

This rotary press will also allow a print changeover in less than four minutes. The format can also be easily adapted, with a width of up to 1?300 mm and a length of up to 914 mm. " Thanks to sleeve technology, variable-format printing units guarantee significantly lower printing form costs compared to other printing methods" assures the German manufacturer.

"The decisive factor in the purchase of Varioman was not just cost-optimized print quality: manroland Goss convinced us with a total package that meets our demands for maximum efficiency and automation" said Henning Diedrich, Rosa's managing director.
