Saica Pack breaks box production records

With 533?232 boxes made in 24 hours, the Irish factory breaks the previous record.

On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, a plant of the Spanish group Saica Pack broke the world record for corrugated box production. The plant located in Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland, managed to produce 191,300 boxes in 8 hours on a Bobst 8.20 line, beating the previous record held by an Australian company, with 1338 more boxes produced. The maximum capacity of the flexo printing and folding-gluing machine is 192,000 cartons in 8 hours.

Saica Pack's Bobst FFG 8.20 Expertline is also breaking the 24-hour production record. The production facility produced 533,232 boxes in 24 hours, breaking the record held by a company in Wisconsin, USA (at 389,817 units).

"Achievements of this nature are impossible without a culture of teamwork, where employees are involved and motivated and feel valued for achieving this performance" the Spanish group is keen to stress in a statement. "It is this commitment and perseverance to improve that adds value to the business we currently enjoy."

The Saica Group, which specializes in the production of recycled paper for corrugated board, is made up of four divisions: Saica Paper dedicated to the manufacture of recycled paper for corrugated board, Saica Natur for waste management and environmental services, Saica Flex for flexible packaging and Saica Pack for the production of corrugated board packaging. With an annual production of 3.5 million tons of paper and 10,000 employees, the group has a turnover of almost ?3.4 billion in 2019.
