The European leader in food packaging solutions, Guillin, has entered into exclusive negotiations with its colleague, the Gault et Frémont Group, created in 1850. Guillin, listed on Euronext Growth, wishes to acquire, with UI Investissement, the 270-strong group which operates three production sites in France and one in Belgium.
Based in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps in Indre-et-Loire, Gault et Frémont is a major player in the French and Belgian market. It designs, manufactures and distributes paper bags, cardboard boxes and baking paper for the food service industry and has a turnover of 66 million euros in 2019.
As for Guillin, the group based in Ornans in the Doubs region is made up of 26 companies in Europe (Guillin, Sharpak, Socamel, Thermoflex, Thiolat, Veripack...) and 16 production sites employing 2600 people. Founded in 1972, Guillin has a turnover for 2019 of 657 million euros on the markets of the food industry, fruit and vegetables and catering.
With this acquisition, the Guillin Group wishes to "strengthen and complement its industrial and commercial expertise in order to offer the widest range of food packaging on the market and thus meet all of its customers' needs ", he says.
Subject to final agreements and customary approvals, this transaction is expected to be completed shortly.
