"No viable concept for continued commercial operations could be found.

Unfortunately the news is confirmed: as we announced on Friday (read Paper manufacturer Zanders soon to be liquidated? ), the paper manufacturer Zanders was liquidated.

The German producer of premium paper and board said in a brief statement that "Zanders Paper's business activities will be discontinued as of today, April 30, 2021. (...) No viable concept for the continuation of the company could be found.
After 192 years, the history of the paper mill, known worldwide for its Chromolux line of papers, ends today."

The management had requested last March to place the company in insolvency the second time in three years. It had explained that the Covid-19 pandemic had negatively impacted sales in 2020, after good results in 2019.

According to the German newspaper Bürgerportal the majority shareholder, the Swedish investment group Jool Invest AB, which had entered the capital of the group in 2019, would have refused any new investment.

The 380 employees of Zanders, which operates a factory near Cologne, are expected to receive their redundancy letters soon, according to an internal source.

"With respect to orders already placed and the sale of remaining paper inventory, customers will be contacted in a timely manner, states the Zanders press release.
The entire Zanders Paper staff thanks all customers, suppliers and partners for their loyalty over many decades and even through the difficult weeks and months."
