Since May 19, the Eiffel Tower has been highlighted by a new, very creative and impressive trompe-l'oeil collage created by the street artist JR following a proposal from the Drac.

euros on the occasion of the renovation of the Trocadero esplanade in Paris, the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Île-de-France asked the artist JR to dress for a period of time a part of the square of the Palais de Chaillot, located opposite the Eiffel Tower.

The installation of the printed cover on the ground and on the main fence of the construction site lasted two hours (during the night of May 18 to 19) and was carried out by the artist's Parisian studio team. However, this stunning photographic collage required two months of preparation.

" It will be up for a month and you are all invited to come and walk on it "JR clarified in an initial post on Instagram showcasing the finished giant anamorphosis.

Soon, it will be possible to buy a lithograph, printed on one of the old Voirin and Marioni flat presses, immortalizing this ephemeral composition, in a limited edition and signed by the artist. And as usual, it is the historical printing house Social Animals which will be in charge of its reproduction and to which JR entrusts his projects in exclusiveness.

Existing since 1881, this discreet Parisian printing house, run by self-described "image magicians", has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Picasso, Braque, Chagall, Matisse, Giacometti and others of even more contemporary vintage.

This singular work will be in place until June 17, 2021 and will be replaced by other creations from various organizations and art schools during the entire restoration project, i.e. September 2022.
