The Pantone CMYK Guide is enriched with new colors

These CMYK Guides will allow designers to find colors "in between" the traditional Pantone graphic colors.

New Pantone color libraries are now available that can be used in full color. The CMYK Coated & Uncoated Guide still includes 2,868 colors, but these swatches contain new unique colors. 1,889 colors for coated paper and 1,653 colors for uncoated paper do not have a direct equivalent of Pantone color not quadri.

Pantone explains that they added "colors between two existing Pantone colors, allowing to fill the gaps and offer more unique offerings." These colors, which are presented without asterisks, "are ideal for image and packaging projects, as well as for media used in smaller-scale brand campaigns looking for novel and less common colors."

The colors of the Pantone CMYK Coated & Uncoated Guide palettes are available on almost all traditional and digital printing presses by four-color printing, so they are not "not as bright and saturated as the Pantone color chart, but the choice is more important" says the American group specializing in color measurement.

Another new feature of these color libraries is that they are compatible with G7 calibrated printing. This standard is particularly used for customers in the Americas and Asia, while Europe uses the Fogra standard.
