Monotype signs a new acquisition. The Massachusetts-based, NASDAQ-listed American foundry has announced the acquisition of fellow New Yorker Hoefler&Co.

With this transaction, Monotype expands its library of 1,113 original typefaces, including popular typeface families such as Gotham, Mercury, Sentinel, Chronicle, Decimal and Archer.

Hoefler&Co's work is both "influential and pervasive" for various brands such as the airline Delta Air Lines (the Whitney typeface in the logo for example) or the jewelry brand Tiffany & Co (with Sterling in the logo in particular), publications such as Wired and The New York Times institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum and New York University.

In January 2020, Montoype also acquired the English foundry Fontsmith In June 2021, she announced the acquisition of the German font editor URW Type Foundry a subsidiary of Global Graphics PLC.
