Two new Digital Master label production lines at Bobst

These two Bobst Digital Master models are enriched with enhanced quality control, simplified maintenance and increased modularity.

Bobst launches the next generation of its all-in-one label production range, the Digital Master.

This third series is composed of two modular models, the Digital Master 340 (340 mm width) and Digital Master 510 (510 mm), and allows UV and flexo inkjet printing, finishing and die-cutting of labels in one pass. The Digital Master reaches 100 m/min at full resolution (1200 x 1200 dpi) and handles mainly thin aluminum substrates, papers and films for self-adhesive and glue-on labels.

Advanced modular design on the Digital Master 340 and 510

Unlike the previous generation (DM5), the DM 340 and DM 510 can be entirely UV inkjet, without any flexo unit, explains François Martin, Bobst marketing and communication manager.

Their modular design, which allows the press to be configured precisely to the customer's needs and the lines to evolve over time, has been enhanced. Flexo modules can be added for primer application on difficult substrates, for high ink coverage jobs in long runs to save inkjet ink or for Pantone color printing. In addition to these printing units, the new Digital Master series can be equipped with modules for varnishing embellishment, tactile and holographic effects, cold glue application, UV lamination, security printing, and fully automated semi-rotary die-cutting and rotary die-cutting modules, among others.

"And when new technologies emerge for these platforms, they can be integrated directly on site, providing increased value while protecting the investment." says Patrick Graber, head of strategic marketing for the Swiss group.

Simplified quality control and maintenance

These new models are also equipped with Bobst Accucheck quality control, which verifies inline registration, quality and color consistency of printing and finishing. They are also equipped with an automatic inkjet unit maintenance system.
And, this new range is available with a high performance DFE/RIP.

"In a nutshell, the DM340/510 is a successful version of the concept of an all-in-one (hybrid) and all-in-line machine with a level of modularity never before achieved." summarizes François Martin.
