Heidelberg is making further inroads into the label market. After investing in Gallus' four Swiss and German sites, the German offset and digital press manufacturer is now turning its attention to the headquarters of the label subsidiary in St. Gallen.
The Swiss site is to be transformed into a competence center for digital label printing. Renamed the Gallus Experience Center, the customer demonstration center will open at the end of the year. About 160 people work in St. Gallen, including the sales management and the R&D department.
"With targeted investments in the Gallus Group, we want to accelerate the development of the label market." confirms Ludwin Monz, CEO of Heidelberg. "The reorientation of our St. Gallen location into a competence center for digital label printing underscores the strategic importance of the packaging sector for Heidelberg."
This transformation also includes a reorganization of its holdings: since 1 January 2010, the er april, the 20euros000 m 2 of the site belong to Marcel and Roger Baumer. The two brothers, who run the Swiss building technology group Hälg, acquired the headquarters privately.
The St. Gallen site will become an open industrial and technology campus with Gallus as the main tenant. "The Gallus district is set to become an open campus for companies and institutions that help shape the future and strengthen St. Gallen as a place to work. We are delighted that the Gallus Group, with its headquarters and digital campus, will be the main tenant of the site." says Roger Baumer.
