The online printing company Drukland, one of the largest in the Benelux, has taken over Flyer.be in bankruptcy. Drukland, which belongs to the Dutch Simian group, paid about 200 euro 000 for this acquisition.
Created in 2002, Flyer.be is a Belgian French-speaking online printing company that internalized its production in 2010. In difficulty "following the health crisis" explains on its website, the company had been declared bankrupt on April 14, 2022.
Drukland, which employs about 150 people, operates two online sales sites, one in the Netherlands and one in Belgium. Over the past two years, the printing company has invested 8 to 10 million euros in new machinery, including a Landa press, installed at its production site in Westerbroek, the Netherlands.
Objective: to grow from 7.5 to 15 million euros in revenue by 2024
Drukland.be opened its first branch in Bruges last July in order to strengthen its position on the Belgian market. Today, the printing company claims more than 100,000 customers in Flanders, mainly companies.
With the acquisition of Flyer.be, the company is moving up a gear. "With this acquisition, we want to completely conquer the Belgian market and become the market leader." says Wouter Haan, CEO of Simian, the parent company of Drukland, in a statement.
Drukland.be expects to double its turnover by 2024, from 7.5 to 15 million euros.
He adds: "Since the bankruptcy of Flyer, we notice that the Belgians have already ordered massively on Drukland.be. We are recording 30% more orders compared to the same period last year."
The CEO also notes that sales trends are different in Belgium and the Netherlands: "Belgians, for example, buy more flags, printed clothing and banners than the Dutch. And often want their order delivered faster."
The Simian group includes, in addition to Drukland.be, the brands Reclameland and Flyerzone.
