The acquisition of Inca Digital Printers strengthens Agfa's position in digital printing for the packaging market.

Agfa announced this last April. Inca Digital Printers of the Japanese Screen Group was supposed to go under the Belgian flag. This is now a done deal. Since May 31, the British designer and manufacturer of high-speed inkjet technologies has been owned by Agfa.

For the Belgian manufacturer, the arrival of Inca Digital Printers "is an important step towards achieving [its] ambitious growth objectives and strengthens the group's position in the sign and display sector and industrial printing markets."

With the acquisition of the British manufacturer, Agfa expands its portfolio of Onset wide format printers as well as packaging machines with a newly designed range of single pass printers and the development of a digital print engine in cooperation with the German manufacturer BHS Corrugated.
"Inca is an ideal partner for Agfa, bringing a complementary portfolio of the highest quality printing solutions and a strong technology platform of single pass printing presses for the packaging market." explains Agfa.

"This acquisition is a major step in the transformation of our group. Our growth engine, digital printing, has enormous potential that will be further accelerated by the addition of Inca." added Pascal Juéry, President and CEO of the Agfa-Gevaert Group.

Vincent Wille, President of Agfa's Digital Print and Chemicals division, sees the combination of Inca and Agfa as an excellent opportunity for the group to grow in the packaging sector. "We can now position ourselves for high-end, high-speed systems in both the sign and display markets and the developing paperboard and corrugated markets."
