Mondi is launching a new line of paperboard packaging for the fresh fruit and vegetable industry. Called Grow&Go, it is designed to protect fresh produce from the farm to the store shelf to the customer's home.
"Its strength is the wide range of options available, covering everything from heavy bulk shipments to light fruit and vegetable assortments for shelf display." says the paper group listed on the London and Johannesburg stock exchanges.
The range of five solutions includes the 2022 World Star award-winning CoralTray, a tray for transporting small products such as tomatoes. With CoralTray, fruits and vegetables remain visible to consumers and easily transportable and stackable.
"The latest trends as well as legislation have favored the abandonment of plastic packaging for fresh produce, adds Tarik Aniba, director of sales and marketing for Mondi Corrugated Solutions. It is also more appealing to customers to receive their products in a sustainable, fully recyclable package made of only paper, starch and glue.
Grow&Go's high-quality corrugated board, often enhanced with durable water-resistant and water-absorbent technology, is a compelling alternative to PE-coated solutions in many cases."
