A new CEO at the head of Smurfit Kappa France

The Irishman, who was vice president of operational excellence within the group's European management, is now in charge of an entity with 4,000 employees.

The corrugated packaging producer Smurfit Kappa has appointed Andrew Coffey as CEO of the corrugated board division in France based in Saint-Mandé in the Val-de-Marne. The Irish national is thus at the head, since November 1, 2022, of an industrial subsidiary with a turnover of more than one billion euros in France with 41 plants and 4,000 employees.

Having joined the paper group in 2000, the new CEO, who speaks several languages including French, has held various positions of responsibility in France and Italy. Since 2019, he has been Vice President of Operational Excellence at the group's European headquarters in the Netherlands. In this role, he oversaw in particular "the largest capital investment program in the Europe division since the company's inception" says Smurfit Kappa.

The new CEO of Smurfit Kappa France says in a statement: "The strength of Smurfit Kappa France is without a doubt our people. We have the most innovative designers and sales people who listen to our customers, their sustainable packaging needs and are attentive to their supply chains.
We benefit from production teams throughout France that have demonstrated through the pandemic that they are among the most resilient in our industry. Our full integration allows us to guarantee supply to our customers as we were able to do during the last material shortage period. We are truly passionate about the future prospects for our customers with our renewable, recyclable and biodegradable packaging.

It is therefore with confidence and enthusiasm that I take up my new position to consolidate our development strategy."

Andrew Coffey replaces Jean-Christophe Bugeon, who left the position he held for eight years in June.
