New Agfa large format inks: Onset 560 and Avinci 110

The new UV ink for the Onset printer reduces the ink used by 20% and the Avinci 110 aqueous ink is certified to be free of components that are hazardous to health and the environment.

Agfa introduces two new ink formulations. The group, which recently expanded its ink production capacity at its plant in Mortsel, Belgium, is launching Onset 560 UV ink for the Onset inkjet printer and Avinci 110 ink for the Avinci CX3200 textile printer.

Double-digit cost reductions with the onset 560 UV ink

Onset 560 UV ink formulated for signage, display and packaging applications using the Onset high-speed inkjet press, delivers double-digit cost savings and typically reduces ink usage by about 20 percent compared to other inks, Agfa says. These results are due to Agfa's patented Thin Ink Layer formulation, which uses a new pigment dispersion technique to deliver higher color intensity.

In addition, the gamut obtained with this new ink is considerably enlarged and is even "unmatched" for a UV ink, according to Agfa, allowing the reproduction of Pantone 485C, a red known to be difficult.

Onset 560 ink is Greenguard Gold certified, which ensures compliance with strict chemical emission limits, allowing it to be used indoors in sensitive environments such as hospitals and schools.

Avinci 110 water-based ink, certified Eco Passport by Oeko-Tex

As for avinci 110 ink for the Avinci CX3200 dye-sublimation textile printer, it is a water-based ink. This ink set has been awarded the Eco Passport by Oeko-Tex, an independent certification institute for chemicals, dyes and auxiliaries used in the textile and leather industry. This certification ensures that the ink is free of harmful substances and can be used to decorate fabrics without harming people or the environment.

Agfa will showcase these new inkjet technologies at Fespa 2023 in Munich, Germany, from May 23 to 26.
