Affinity creative software suite upgraded to the next version. Affinity version 2.5, the first update since the acquisition of the creative suite by Australian company Canva last March , adds new features to Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher. What are the new features?
Firstly, variable fonts can now be used in all Affinity applications. These fonts, which combine in a single file numerous variations in width and fat, slant and other typographic characteristics, can be adjusted precisely and easily to the needs of a graphic creation.
Secondly, Affinity Designer is enriched by the new Line Width tool, which offers graphic designers a means of modifying the pressure profile of any curve within a document. As for the Pencil tool, its new curve-smoothing algorithm gives "smoother, better results overall" according to the publisher.
In all three programs, a QR Code tool is also available from the Shapes drop-down menu in the toolbar.
Finally, Affinity is the first creative suite optimized for Windows PCs equipped with the latest Snapdragon X Elite chip, boosting speed whether working on simple edits or multi-layer documents.
Andy Somerfield, Affinity's lead developer, explains: "The new Snapdragon X Elite range enables Affinity to perform to its full potential, and we're now seeing high speeds on much smaller and lighter devices that were previously only possible with high-end desktop PCs."
Available on Windows, Mac and iPad devices, Affinity 2.5 can be downloaded free of charge for existing Affinity customers.
