Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint and Italian industrial inkjet printer Neos have announced that they are currently working on a new high-speed single-pass digital printing solution for metal decoration, dubbed MetJet Pro. The MetJet Pro combines the sheet handling and inline coating system of German manufacturer Koenig & Bauer's metal printing subsidiary with the Italian company's single-pass inkjet technology.
This new machine is positioned between the MetJet One, whose prototype was presented a few days ago, and the MetalStar 4, which reaches 8,500 sheets per hour.
"The MetJet One is our multi-pass solution and the optimal way to get started in digital printing for metal packaging." reminds us of Samuel Teufel, Product Manager at Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint, who underlines the low initial investment and total cost of ownership of this machine, which produces at around 200 f/h. "With its single-pass system, the MetJet Pro is considerably more powerful - but also more expensive - and reaches speeds of 2,500 f/h."
The MetJet Pro also offers extremely short changeover times, using inks that comply with European regulations for indirect food contact. What's more, its modularity makes it suitable for a wide range of metal printing applications, such as crimping boxes, crown caps and more.
And with its camera system, combined with Neos software, each sheet is identified for precise ink drop positioning and registration.
"The MetJet Pro is the ideal solution for our customers with the most demanding requirements in terms of performance and flexibility." emphasizes Samuel Teufel.
It will be offered to selected pilot customers in the course of this year, he tells us.
