Thanks to this acquisition, Barcodis enriches its offering with a software technology capable of interfacing ERP systems with all production equipment âeuros PLCs, marking and labeling systems, scales, conveyors or palletizers âeuros and centralizing data in a single platform.
"This alliance enables us to address large-scale projects in the French and European markets" says Fabrice Coevoet, President of Barcodis. Thierry van Ravestyn, CEO of Up Trace, adds: "We share the same ambition: to connect equipment, unify data and make factories more agile and resilient."
Mutoh Aquafuze ink compatible with covering films
Manufacturer Mutoh Europe and Grafityp, the Belgian manufacturer of self-adhesive films acquired in 2024 by the Finnish UPM Group, announce the technical validation of Aquafuze water-based hybrid ink with AE38C cast film for 3D covering applications.
Joint tests showed good mechanical resistance (up to 185% elongation), intact ink-film cohesion, and immediate compatibility with lamination. This validation marks an important milestone for alternatives to solvent-based inks in high-end marking applications.
According to Mutoh, this compatibility with a cast film used in the most demanding applications proves that the ink can now compete with traditional solvent solutions in contexts where mechanical strength, flexibility and durability are crucial.
Ability Plant Optimizer, ABB's new software for pulp mills
ABB expands its range of digital solutions with the launch of ABB Ability Plant Optimizer for Pulp Mills, software designed to optimize real-time planning and operations in pulp mills.
Ability Plant Optimizer has been designed to improve the traceability, quality and profitability of production sites by dynamically coordinating planning and operational processes.
The software provides complete visibility of material flows and critical parameters, enabling quality deviations to be corrected more quickly and losses reduced.
Relying on data from the production execution system (MES), Plant Optimizer draws up production plans adjusted to actual constraints, and simulates different scenarios (variations in demand, stoppages, bottlenecks) to recommend the most efficient settings.
The DesignJet T870, HP's new printer for design offices, architects and designers
HP expands its printer range with the 24-inch DesignJet T870), a large-format printer designed for architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) professionals. More environmentally-friendly, it is up to 30% lighter, quieter and more energy-efficient than previous models.
Designed for versatility, it prints an A1/D format in 21 seconds, and automatically handles formats from A4/A to A1/D without manual handling of media. An ideal solution for design offices, architects and designers looking for productivity and simplicity.
Less 175âeuros000Â tonnes of coated paper at Sappi Europe
Sappi Europe has confirmed the closure of paper machine n° 2 (PM2) at its Kirkniemi site in Lohja, Finland, by the end of 2025, following the consultation process launched in August. The closure will result in an annual capacity reduction of 175,000 tonnes of coated mechanical paper, and the loss of 93 jobs.
According to Misa Bursac, Vice-President in charge of Production, R&D and Technology, "this difficult decision reflects the structural changes in the paper market and the need to constantly improve operational efficiency".
Production of the ranges currently manufactured on PM2 will be transferred to machines 1 and 3, which will continue to operate.
