The new Tau G3 in its demonstration center

Durst has announced the installation of its new Tau G3 Core 340 led label printing press at its Customer Experience Center in Brixen, Italy.
Durst's team of Labels experts now offers personalized demonstrations, either in person or online, to showcase the performance and innovations of this led solution.

Socosprint liquidation

The verdict is in: Socosprint has been liquidated. Based in Épinal in the Vosges region, the printing plant closed its doors on October 6 and all 25 employees were made redundant. The company had been placed in receivership in April 2024.

Founded in 1988, Socosprint specialized in printing documents for the trade press and corporate communications. It was acquired in November 2021, on the retirement of its founder, by its colleague L'Ormont Imprimeur, headed by Nicolas Hesse.

60 million euros for Metsä Board's Simpele plant

Finnish papermaker Metsä Board has announced the completion of an extensive ?60 million modernization project at its Simpele site in Finland, dedicated to packaging board.

The rebuilt machine now enables production of the new MetsäBoard Classic FBB, already available to customers in the food packaging and healthcare sectors. The improvements made âeuros notably the introduction of curtain coating technology âeuros enhance the boardâ??s print quality, gloss and visual uniformity, offering a sharper, more vibrant rendering, the group assures.

The worksite mobilized over 430 professionals, and included the complete reconstruction of the coating section, the extension of the coating kitchen, and the installation of a new pallet-wrapping line.

With this modernization, the Simpele plant will increase its energy consumption from 89% to 98% without recourse to fossil fuels.

Holmen presents its new premium card with a natural feel in the shape of a flower

Swedish papermaker Holmen enhances its Invercote range with the launch of Invercote Touch, a high-end board designed to offer a natural look and feel.
To present this material, Holmen has come up with a sample in the shape of a flower. Conceived in collaboration with Swedish designer Mikael Selin, this flower highlights the flexibility, strength and printing finesse of cardboard.

Produced in a limited edition, the sample combines HP Indigo 15K digital printing, hot foil stamping, embossing and holographic films.
According to Maria Blohm, Project Manager at Holmen, the aim was to offer "a medium that inspires and demonstrates that the Invercote Touch can push back the limits of creation".

La Poste launches a croissant-flavored stamp

After baguette in 2024, Philaposte la Poste's philatelic arm, is honoring a croissant with a stamp scented with the authentic aroma of a freshly baked croissant.
The technical difficulty with this type of printing lies in preserving the scent throughout the print run," explained the Dordogne-based printer in 2024.
