ASV Packaging becomes part of the Spanish Hinojosa Group

Hinojosa Packaging Group completes its takeover of ASV Packaging, following an initial investment in 2023. This operation strengthens Hinojosa's presence in France, with seven plants, three of which specialize in cartons.

The process initiated in the summer of 2023 is now complete: Hinojosa Packaging Group has finalized the acquisition of the entirety of ASV Packaging, a 200-strong French group specializing in folding carton packaging for the food and consumer goods industries.

Already present in France since 2021 with Allard Emballage, Hinojosa brings the number of its production units in France to seven. These include a paper mill, three corrugated board plants and the three sites specializing in cases resulting from this new acquisition (Covepa-Michels in Châteauroux (Indre), CEC Packaging in Le Mans (Sarthe) and Valence (DrÃ'me)). On a European scale, the group, which employs 3,000 people, has a total of 24 sites, including nine plants dedicated to cardboard cases in France, Spain and Portugal.

July 2023, Hinojosa acquired a 49% stake in ASV Packaging . At the time, the group generated sales of 64 million euros, according to data published at the time of the merger.

"This development is based on a decentralized management model, preserving the autonomy of each site to adapt quickly to local needs and guarantee a local service that is both flexible and responsive." says the Spanish group.

Among the industrial synergies strengthened by this merger is the production of Halopack, a cardboard tray for fresh products packaged in modified atmosphere or vacuum packs. This product, designed by Dutch company Packable BV, is manufactured exclusively by Hinojosa on the Iberian peninsula, and by ASV in France. The packaging contains 85% less plastic than traditional rigid plastic trays.

This range, already in joint development since 2023, is set to strengthen the Group's offering in food markets concerned with sustainability and regulatory compliance, particularly in the context of forthcoming European requirements on plastics reduction.
