Together, Hinojosa and ASV Packaging intend to boost the production and sale of Halopack trays in the Iberian Peninsula and in France

Spanish cartoner Hinojosa Packaging has entered into exclusive negotiations with French company ASV Packaging to acquire 49% of its shares. ASV Packaging, which has a turnover of ?64 million and 210 employees, specializes in the design and production of printed corrugated packaging for the food and consumer goods industries.

The French group includes the Covepa-Michels plant located in Châteauroux in Indre, CEC Packaging with two sites âeuros one in Le Mans in the Sarthe and the other in Valence in the DrÃ'me âeuros and the company MSC Packaging which hosts the activities related to the manufacture and distribution of Halopack trays. The French company shares with Hinojosa the exclusive production of Halopack (brand of the Dutch Packable BV) on the Iberian Peninsula and in France.

Through this alliance, the two groups want to develop this solution, which contains 85% less plastic than the traditional plastic trays for fresh and ultra-fresh products packaged in modified atmosphere (MAP) or vacuum (SKIN).

This operation would also enable the Spanish group, which has 20 production sites, to strengthen its position as a manufacturer of cardboard packaging solutions in southern Europe. It will also enable the group to offer packaging solutions for the French market for agriculture, consumer products and e-commerce (individual packaging, trays for fresh produce, food jars, etc.).

"Hinojosa's interest in ASV Packaging and its significant investment in our company is a recognition of the work accomplished over the past five years with our management team and all our employees to build an alternative offer for our customers to those of the integrated global groups, says Philippe Desveronnières, president of ASV Packaging. We will benefit from the full power of the Hinojosa Group and important synergies that will strengthen and accelerate our development."

And since 2021, Hinojosa has another group in France, the Spaniard who acquired Allard Emballage based in Brive-la-Gaillarde, in Corrèze.
