Despite the restructuring process at Manroland Sheetfed, Heidelberg confirms the continuation of the cooperation announced for June 2025 in the very large format (VLF) sector . And one of the key stages in this cooperation is the installation, in early April, of the first Cartonmaster CX 145 demonstration machine at Heidelberg's German Home of Print site in Wiesloch-Walldorf.
This statement comes at a time when Manroland Sheetfed, in financial difficulty, has announced that it is entering a court-supervised restructuring procedure .
The 1050 x 1450 mm Cartonmaster CX 145 offset press is based on the Roland Evolution 900 platform developed by Manroland sheetfed.
The demonstration machine, a Cartonmaster CX 145-6+LYYL designed for mixed production using conventional and UV inks, will enable printers to observe the press in operation in a production environment.
It will integrate Heidelberg's digital environment. The press will be able to operate with the Prinect workflow as well as with third-party solutions. Production data will also be accessible via the manufacturer's customer portal.
In this partnership between the two German manufacturers, Heidelberg will be responsible for marketing, installation, training and service. The offer also includes the supply of consumables. The press will be offered with a Heidelberg design.
"For packaging manufacturers, especially in the high-volume folding carton segment, maximum machine availability, low machine complexity and professional, coordinated supplier service are decisive investment criteria." emphasizes Heidelberg, which boasts 2,300 technicians in over 170 countries and four international logistics centers.
However, the situation at manroland sheetfed could change the outlook for this cooperation. Could the partnership initiated in the very large format segment eventually lead the two manufacturers to envisage a closer relationship?
