Felix Schoeller launches "the first true photo paper" for high-speed inkjet

Industrial photo printing is evolving with the rise of high-speed inkjet. Felix Schoeller launches RubyPaper, a paper designed to produce photographic prints without lamination or varnishing.

Felix Schoeller launches RubyPaper, "the first true photo paper for high-speed inkjet printing" . While industrial photo labs are progressively adopting high-speed inkjet lines, to reproduce a photographic rendering comparable to silver halide papers, they still need to be laminated or varnished after printing. This new substrate eliminates this problem, assures the German manufacturer of specialty papers.

Hadrien Cottin, Vice President of Digital Media Sales at Felix Schoeller, explains: "With our new photo paper, we eliminate lamination, a quality- and process-limiting step. RubyPaper delivers true photo paper quality on high-speed inkjet systems, at higher print speeds and with significantly greater production efficiency."

A fast-drying receiver coat

RubyPaper is based on a fast-drying color receptor layer developed for high-speed inkjet presses. According to Felix Schoeller, this layer enables a wider gamut and greater sharpness of detail, while making full use of the printing speed of high-speed inkjet systems. "To the touch, RubyPaper equals that of traditional silver photo paper and allows end customers to immediately see the added value of real photographic products."

Available in gloss and high-gloss finishes, RubyPaper is compatible with Canon VarioPrint iX, Heidelberg Jetfire, Fujifilm Jet Press and Kyocera Nixka Belharra presses.

Felix Schoeller designs RubyPaper for photo books, photo prints, school and sports photography, and posters.
