Kodak Launches the Prosper Plus 5

Kodak is expanding its Prosper Plus line of inkjet printing systems with a new entry-level model, which is slower than the other Prosper Plus models.

Kodak is launching the Prosper Plus 5, an inkjet printing system designed to be installed on existing presses or finishing lines. With a maximum speed of 152 meters per minute, this new model is the entry-level offering in the American manufacturer?s Prosper Plus line, intended for printers and packaging converters.

The Prosper Plus 5 uses Kodak's Stream continuous inkjet technology and Ektacolor inks. It has a resolution of 600 x 900 DPI, with several drop sizes available.

The Prosper Plus 5 system allows you to add variable data to pre-printed materials, particularly for coding, serialization, personalization, and the creation of different versions of the same document. Applications include direct marketing, packaging, security printing, lottery products, and health and personal care products.

A Revamped Prosper Plus Line

Kodak took advantage of this launch to change the names of its other inkjet printing systems.

The Prosper Plus 1 and 1W are now called the Prosper Plus 10, while the Prosper Plus 2 and 2W are now called the Prosper Plus 20. These new names correspond to their respective maximum speeds in feet per minute, which are 305 and 609 meters per minute.

The Prosper Plus 5 is now the entry-level model in terms of speed, alongside the Prosper Plus 10 and 20 and the Prosper Print Bar.

Kodak has also made changes to the Prosper Plus platform to streamline maintenance operations, improve connectivity, and reduce production downtime. However, the manufacturer does not provide specific figures regarding these improvements.

Users of older Prosper S-Series systems will continue to receive technical support from Kodak, with upgrade options available.
