RISO is picking up the pace even more with its new ComColor GN series

RISO has reached a new milestone in color inkjet printing, achieving an unmatched speed of 180 pages per minute.

RISO is expanding its ComColor printer lineup with the launch of two new high-speed color inkjet printers: the ComColor GN7630 and GN9830. With print speeds of 160 and 180 pages per minute (ppm), respectively, this new generation can produce up to 10,800 A4 pages per hour.

But speed isn't the only new feature. The Japanese manufacturer has also worked on print quality and image reproduction, thanks to a new ink formulation and several technical improvements. These new digital printers thus combine speed, print quality, and reliability in a compact design.%E2euros%A8

FORCEJET technology continues to evolve, pushing the performance limits of the ComColor GN series

To achieve these high print speeds, RISO has further developed its FORCEJET inkjet technology. This technology relies on fixed print heads that cover the entire width of the page, while the paper feeds continuously. This single-pass printing principle enables high-volume production at high speeds while minimizing mechanical movement.

On the new ComColor GN models, the print heads have been improved and paper feed has been accelerated. Sensors monitor the belt speed and the position of the sheets to synchronize their movement with the ejection of ink droplets.

The Japanese manufacturer has also optimized ink flow at the nozzles, cleaning operations, and image processing capabilities. As a result, the first page can be printed in five seconds or less, which reduces wait times for small print runs.

Another major development is that the printhead spacing can now be adjusted to better accommodate different media thicknesses, particularly envelopes.

Print quality is also becoming more precise

RISO has developed a new formulation for its oil-based pigment inks, which are more concentrated, in order to achieve richer colors and better image reproduction.
This change is accompanied by improved ink placement accuracy. A new airflow control system ensures that media are transported perfectly flat and that ink is placed precisely, even at high speeds. Contours are sharper, particularly for small text and barcodes.

The driver, for its part, offers several image processing options, including the ability to enhance color vibrancy or reduce transparency effects in two-sided printing.

The ComColor GN series retains its five-color printing system, with four-color process printing supplemented by a fifth color?gray or red, depending on the configuration. This flexibility offers new possibilities in terms of color rendering and print quality, depending on colorimetric requirements.

Without water, oil-based inks penetrate the paper quickly, thereby minimizing distortion. The sheets can be handled immediately after printing, which facilitates finishing, binding, or envelope stuffing.

New Features to Optimize Production

The ComColor GN series can also be equipped with the new HS10000 scanner. Available as an option, it scans at a rate of 200 images per minute for double-sided scanning and copies at a rate of up to 180 pages per minute, with the first copy ready in less than seven seconds.

Its image processing system improves color accuracy, including that of highlighter annotations. It also supports a wider range of documents thanks to two new modes designed for both thin and thick paper. Scanned files can be sent via email, saved to a USB flash drive, or uploaded to Google Drive and OneDrive.

For high-volume production environments, the GN series can be equipped with a paper feeder with a maximum capacity of 5,500 sheets and a 4,000-sheet output tray. Several finishing accessories and print controllers are also available as options.

Finally, like RISO?s other ComColor solutions, the GN series features cold inkjet technology, which does not require a heating system to set the ink and does not generate ozone during printing. RISO claims that its technology delivers up to 91% electricity savings, based on a comparison with laser copiers. The energy consumption of the new models is 0.056 Wh per sheet for the GN9830 and 0.062 Wh for the GN7630, according to the ENERGY STAR calculation method.
