Canon Launches the ColorStream 7000 for Mid-Volume Printing

Fifteen years after the introduction of the first ColorStream printers, Canon is expanding its roll-fed inkjet lineup with the ColorStream 7000 series, which includes three models offering production speeds of up to 127 meters per minute.

Canon is expanding its line of roll-fed inkjet presses with the ColorStream 7000. This new series is designed for printers specializing in corporate communications, publishing, and direct mail who produce medium-volume runs.

According to Géraldine Gaspard, Production Marketing Manager at Canon France, mid-market printers are primarily looking for "Proven performance to help them grow their business." "This product line combines the quality and reliability of the ColorStream platform with the services, workflow integration, and flexibility that print service providers need to compete with confidence." She points out that this new product line builds on the experience gained from more than 2%E2euros%89000 ColorStream presses installed worldwide since the ColorStream series was launched in 2001.

The new product family consists of three models: the ColorStream 7075, 7100, and 7127, with speeds ranging from 48 to 127 meters per minute and monthly print volumes of up to 56 million A4 pages. The presses are available in both monochrome and color versions and can be scaled to meet changing production needs.

The ColorStream 7000 incorporates several technologies used in the ColorStream 6000 presses, allowing owners of those models to upgrade to the new press without changing their workflow. The print heads have a native resolution of 600 dpi and use water-based pigment inks combined with Canon?s DigiDot multi-level inkjet technology.

The Japanese manufacturer reports a perceived quality of 1%E2euros%89200 ppp on uncoated, recycled, or inkjet-treated offset papers.

In addition, Canon notes that the water-cooled print head stabilizes the ink temperature during long production runs, and Pre-Fire technology maintains nozzle performance by ensuring ink circulation within the ink chamber.

The product line includes several features designed to reduce paper waste, including a waste-free print pause, an inspection mode, and gradual speed increases that allow operators to check jobs before production begins in earnest.

These continuous-feed inkjet presses are compatible with Canon's Prisma ecosystem. In particular, users can integrate them with Prismaproduction as well as Prismalytics Dashboard, the manufacturer's cloud-based data analytics tool.

The ColorStream 7000 also incorporates features from the ColorStream 8000, a model launched in 2021 and designed for higher production speeds. In particular, it features Canon?s SRA Massive Parallel controller and improved RIP performance compared to previous models. The scalable architecture of this controller allows for increased processing capacity or the upgrade from a monochrome system to a color system without replacing the entire installation.
