Konica Minolta launches the AccurioJet 30000, a B2+ sheetfed UV inkjet digital press. This brand-new model is the successor to the AccurioJet KM-1e series, of which over 250 units have been installed worldwide. With this new generation, the Japanese manufacturer aims above all to bring inkjet closer to offset applications, by working on paper transport stability, in-line control and reduced set-up times.
The AccurioJet 30000 prints up to 3,000 sheets per hour in single-sided mode and 1,500 sheets per hour in automatic duplex mode, with no drying time. It accepts substrates from 0.06 to 0.6 mm thick, and can handle coated and uncoated papers, as well as metallized, textured, translucent or plastic substrates.
Media sensors and in-line spectrophotometer
The AccurioJet 30000 features a new HM201 head and a high-definition mode designed to improve image rendering and gradation. Konica Minolta has also added new media sensors and a spectrophotometer that automatically corrects color deviations during printing.
The digital press still uses the patented Dot Freeze printing technology developed by Konica Minolta. This combines special UV led inks and dot control to limit ink spreading on the substrate. It offers a native resolution of 1âeuros200 x 1âeuros200 DPI and covers a Fogra 59-certified color space.
The paper transport system is based on offset architecture, with suction, ventilation and grippers to maintain register on long runs.
Masashi Morii, Industrial Printing Business Development Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, emphasizes: "Although it's a digital press, the AccurioJet 30000 offers the same paper-handling stability as an offset printer."
Less waste, faster makereadies according to Les Ateliers Réunis
With its 585 x 750 mm format, the AccurioJet 30000 targets brochures and commercial work as well as certain packaging applications. The press can also produce POP, signage, backlit posters, personalized direct mail and photo books.
The AccurioJet 30000 comes with an optimized RIP, PreRIP processing to reduce waiting times, and an inkjet manager compatible with existing offset workflows.
Les Ateliers Réunis, one of the first users of this Konica digital press, reports a sharp drop in paper waste. Vincent Petillo, General Manager of the printing plant located in Collégien, Seine-et-Marne, explains that a makeready requires only 5 to 10 sheets on the AccurioJet 30000, compared with 250 to 500 sheets on a conventional offset press. He also cites a start-up time reduced to "less than five minutes compared with around fifteen minutes in offset.
