Based in Marne-la-Vallée, Les Ateliers Réunis specializes in high-end offset and digital printing. With its integrated finishing facilities, the print shop supports its customers with a global approach to graphic production. Now run by Vincent Petillo, son of the company's co-founder, the printing works employs 22 people and generates sales of 7.2 million euros.
Rapidly changing customer expectations
Like many players in the industry, Les Ateliers Réunis has seen its customers' expectations evolve in recent years. "We were faced with a drop in quantities from our customers, very short lead times while maintaining impeccable quality." explains Vincent Petillo.
To meet these new trends, Les Ateliers Réunis invested in Konica Minolta's AccurioJet 30000 UV led inkjet press. One of the decisive factors in the choice was its ability to print on a wide variety of substrates without pre-coating, such as textured paper, cardboard and plastics.
With the new HM201 printhead and its high-definition mode, as well as media sensors and a spectrophotometer, the press also offers premium image quality with ultra-fine detail and high colorimetric stability, according to its manufacturer.
The AccurioJet 30000 also features optimized station configuration, PreRIP processing, ink mist collectors between colors that reduce maintenance time, and in-line interfacing for third-party finishing modules, offering excellent machine availability and seamless integration into existing production environments says Konica.
Significantly reduced waste and set-up times cut by a factor of 3
After several months of use, Ateliers Réunis teams are already seeing significant gains in their production processes.
The executive explains: "The first measurable benefit is the reduction in paper waste, made possible by almost instantaneous production start-up. With a conventional press, you need 250 to 500 sheets of paper, whereas with the AccurioJet 30000 you only need 5 to 10 sheets".
The reduction in paper waste also has an impact on the time spent on makeready. "Jobs can run without downtime and with record start-up times compared to offset. Where an offset press requires around 15 minutes for makeready, the AccurioJet 30000 cuts this time to less than 5 minutes."
Customer-recognized print quality
And the impact is also felt in customer perception. The print quality achieved with the AccurioJet 30000 has received very positive feedback. " We've already had a number of customers congratulate us on the quality of our printing" reports the executive. One of them has even chosen this technology for its future work.
"The machine delivers offset-like print quality with the advantages of digital" sums up Vincent Petillo.
