Anger of Cimpress employees laid off in the middle of a coronavirus epidemic

Faced with the reactions on social networks, the group decided to back off.

In the midst of a coronavirus epidemic, 80 employees of Vistaprint Tunisia received a letter of termination of their employment contract on Wednesday 18 March on the grounds of an inconclusive trial period. And they did not hesitate to express their disgust on social networks, putting in parallel the announced ethical and socially responsible policy of the online printing company and these dismissals judged to be "unacceptable" "abusive" . One of the addressees of this letter told the Tunisian economic newspaper IlBoursa In the previous six months, approximately 25 of the licensees had received excellent ratings.

The 80 employees finally reintegrated

In the face of the outcry caused by these dismissals, which many people feel "immoral" and "unfair" the management reversed its decision on Friday, March 20. "Uncertainty, vagueness and the actions that need to be taken to reduce the spread of Covid-19 has left many people feeling vulnerable, says Vistaprint Tunisia in its press release. We have listened carefully to the concerns of our staff and agree that we should do more to support our colleagues in Tunis".

Subsidiary of online printing giant Cimpress underlines the fact that it was "entitled to take these measures" but eventually "these go against the corporate culture." "The strength of this culture lies in the fact that it has allowed our employees to have sincere and trusting conversations with our management team to express their points of view." advances the group that reinstated the 80 people.
