Coronavirus: Printer Grafica Veneta converts its press to produce masks

The rotativist now receives requests for these masks outside Italy.

The Italian printing house Grafica Veneta, located in Trebaseleghe in the Veneto region of Italy, is adapting its production: the 200-strong company, which usually produces books with a high circulation, such as the Harry Potter saga, has urgently redirected its production lines to bring out protective masks against coronavirus. Today, the company manufactures disposable masks made of non-woven fabric, intended for asymptomatic people.

To do this, the employees converted one of the 14 presses to this production, and not the least of them: the latest press worth 12 million euros, said the president of Grafica Veneta, Fabio Franceschi to the Italian daily newspaper Repubblica.
The printing plant also postponed production of certain book orders for the United States by one month with the agreement of customers.

Two million masks have already been distributed free of charge to citizens, and the company announced on Saturday 28 March that it will make another two million.

"We also receive requests from France, Spain and the United States, but that's not our business, surprised the printer at the newspaper.. Padovaoggi. They even asked us for 500 million from the United States!"
