AccurioJet KM-1e, Konica Minolta's New B2+ Inkjet Press

This new inkjet press handles a wide range of media types without the need for pre-treatment.

Konica Minolta launches a new version of the AccurioJet KM-1, its B2-size CMYK UV inkjet sheetfed press + release in 2016.

In this new generation called AccurioJet KM-1e (e for evolution), the manufacturer has optimised printing capabilities on various types of media without pre-treatment. The AccurioJet KM-1e prints on plastic substrates, transparent film, metal paper or textured media such as canvas, and the stability of very thin media (0.06 mm) has been improved. According to the manufacturer, it is suitable for a variety of applications ranging from brochures to labels and packaging.

This press is aimed at all commercial printers who are faced with ever shorter print runs and deadlines. And more "specifically, printers seeking to differentiate themselves in the industry with extended paper sizes and types using an advanced digital press." said Nuno Sacadura, head of inkjet development at a press conference.

The KM-1e, like the KM-1, accepts media up to 585 x 750 mm, which is larger than a normal B2 format and therefore more compatible with European formats (on an HP Indigo 12000 the maximum page size is 530 x 750 mm).

The printing speed (3000 f/h in B2+) remains the same, but the machine's uptime has been increased thanks to reduced maintenance cycles and downtime, says Nuno Sacadura.

He adds that KM-1 presses can be upgraded to KM-1e.

Several KM-1e have already been installed in Europe and the United States.
