Konica Minolta sets up laboratory in Europe to develop inkjet applications

Konica Minolta is setting up a laboratory in Europe to test its inkjet heads. This facility is intended to broaden the uses of inkjet and support product development.

To develop its print heads, Konica Minolta is starting a collaboration with iPrint. iPrint is the Swiss public institute that brings together inkjet companies and engineers from all over the world to conduct applied research.

The Japanese manufacturer has set up a dedicated laboratory on the iPrint premises. Until now, evaluations were mainly conducted in Japan. This facility will enable part of the testing to be carried out in Europe, an important market for Konica's inkjet heads.

Through this partnership, Konica Minolta intends to broaden the range of uses for inkjet beyond conventional printing, and find new partners.
The Japanese group uses inkjet printheads in a variety of applications, including signage and industrial applications. But it is convinced of the strong potential of its proprietary inkjet technology, even in sectors where it has hitherto been little used.

Access to the Swiss institute's test and evaluation equipment will also enable us to carry out evaluations and tests previously difficult to perform, such as inkjet deposition on three-dimensional objects.

In addition to the development of new applications and the search for new partners, Konica Minolta will use this new data for the development of its products, to increase efficiency and speed.
