Konica Minolta launches MGI's JETvarnish 3D Web 400

The JETvarnish 3D Web 400 uses a digital process to produce UV selective varnish and hot foil stamping on reels in a single pass, and integrates semi-rotary die-cutting.

Konica Minolta launches the JETvarnish 3D Web 400, a new-generation digital reel-to-reel finishing press developed by French manufacturer MGI Digital Technology. Dedicated to short-, medium- and long-run label applications, this digital reel-to-reel finishing press produces 2D or 3D UV selective varnish and hot foil stamping on labels, in fixed or variable data, in a single pass.

"From the brands' point of view, this approach helps to speed up and gain agility in product launches, while reinforcing on-shelf impact and overall brand perception." explains Konica Minolta.

The JETvarnish 3D Web 400 processes a wide range of offset, flexo, toner and inkjet printed substrates. This digital finishing press operates on web widths from 200 to 350 mm, extendable to 420 mm, and reaches 42 m/min. And its automatic cleaning system requires just ten minutes a day.

The modular JETvarnish 3D Web 400 is available in six configurations. It is available with one or two print engines, with or without hot foil stamping unit, and with or without in-line semi-rotary die-cutting unit.

An AIS scanner controlled by artificial intelligence ensures real-time tracking. Start-up is automated to reduce waste.

Its software suite, MGI Connect, integrates cost calculation, predictive maintenance and visualization of finishing effects.

Slovak printer Alfopa is just one of the customers already benefiting from this technology: "The capabilities of our MGI JETvarnish 3D press [...] enable us to reduce label production time. [...] Thanks to the cutting unit, the label is delivered pre-cut at the end, so there's no need to go through another machine."
