Bosbt launches the Expert RS 6003, a gravure printer for all types of flexible packaging. The Expert RS 6003, which reaches a speed of 500 m/min, is designed for the food and other flexible packaging markets, handling a wide range of substrates (plastic films, complex materials and paper), as well as ink types and working lengths.
The Expert RS 6003, a configurable gravure machine
The Swiss manufacturer offers numerous configurations on this printing machine.
For example, the Expert RS 6003 can be equipped with shaft or shaftless printing cylinders.
Two inking systems are also available: the standard MPI (Multi-Purpose Inking?-?encrage multifunction) inking system and, as an option, the HSM (High Speed Metering) system for printing under all conditions and with all types of inks and solvents.
Finishes in line with printing can be added: lamination, cold sealing in register, hot melt coating or applications of different lacquers (solvent based, water based, UV, EB).
Job changes made easier with a new trolley
To speed up the preparation of the machine, the Swiss manufacturer has designed the Flex Trolley. The Flex Trolley is a service trolley that can either remain in the printing unit during printing or be removed after the printing unit has been set up.
"This significantly reduces the minimum number of carriages required to operate the printer, while ensuring maximum flexibility for job changes", indicates the manufacturer.
- 30 % waste with a shortened dryer
Bobst has also reduced the drying system. "This solution significantly shortens the path of the belt, which allows a significant reduction in start-up waste (-30%) and a substantial time saving when changing jobs compared to traditional drying chambers"
The Expert RS 6003 supports high-speed printing with water- and solvent-based inks and is ECG compatible. ECG is a printing process that uses three additional ink colors, orange, green and violet (OGV), in addition to the conventional colors cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK), which allows for more than 90% coverage of the Pantone color chart, compared to about 60% with conventional CMYK according to Bobst.
Other points to note: the Expert RS 6003 is compact, 25 m long x 5 m high for an 8-color press, and Bobst announces a lead time of less than eight months between order and installation.
