Clémentine Pineira and Pascal Pasquet have teamed up to open their scop printing plant in Lisieux in Calvados.

Despite the uncertainty linked to the health crisis, they decided to launch their company. The Société coopérative d'impression numérique (Scin) started its activity last October in Lisieux, Calvados. Clémentine Pineira, 25, and Pascal Pasquet, 55, have joined forces to open their printing plant in the form of a scop (cooperative production company).

Scop, a model of solidarity

"?Ça was concerned that the company was a scop. Many people in my family work in a scop, I grew up with this model of solidarity. Profits are redistributed. It's a legal form of business in which employees feel a sense of ownership in the entreprise?." explains Clementine Pineira.

The scop has the particularity of having a democratic governance. Employees with the status of partner are obligatorily majority shareholders of the company.

An experience that is not new for the partners since they were both already working in a printing scop where Pascal Pasquet was the manager.

All types of digital printing jobs

"?En 2019, I've decided to go freelance as a graphic designer. I learned that the print shop I was working in was closing and that its manager wanted to start a new printing business. So we decided to team up to relaunch a entreprise?." says Clementine Pineira.

La Scin carries out all types of work in digital printing, mainly for professionals, but also for private individuals and communities: signage in shops, on windows, on vehicles, signs, panels, etc.

The print shop responds more globally to all customer requests, and works with local partners for work such as business cards, leaflets, direct printing, etc. The company has a Roland printer, a Summa cutting plotter and a Kala laminator in its machine park.

Although the scop initially thought it would hire after the first year, it is giving itself time to see how the situation evolves for the time being.
