Sun Chemical and Eppe launch new food contact offset ink

These new inks offer a wider gamut and greater color vibrancy than the previous line launched in 2019.

U.S. ink manufacturer Sun Chemical and German ink manufacturer Epple Druckfarben are launching a new sheetfed offset ink for printing paper-based packaging with direct food contact.
This new series of low migration inks is marketed in Europe by Epple under the name BoFood DFC (DFC for direct food contact) and by Sun Chemical under the name SunPak DirectFood Plus and replaces the BoFood Organic and SunPak Organic lines, launched in 2009.

"The new BoFood DFC system enables safe and direct contact of inks with food inside paper packaging. This ink set was developed through the hard work of Epple Druckfarben and Sun Chemical's analytical team, which analyzed and evaluated raw materials, semi-finished products and final printing inks." says Epple Druckfarben.

"With improved pigmentation and excellent printability, SunPak DirectFood Plus offers greater color vibrancy and accuracy with a wider color space than its predecessor "says Sun Chemical. "The process stability of the new ink system rivals other proven low migration standard inks." adds Eppe.

"These pigmented sheet-fed printing inks developed in conjunction with Epple allow our customers to offer brands a wider range of recyclable packaging, says Nicolas Betin, Sun Chemical's director of product strategy EMEA and sustainability manager. We are excited to work with Epple to provide our European customers with the most advanced DFC ink technology available."
