At CFIA, ASV Packaging and Hinojosa will be presenting Halopack, a packaging exclusive to them, and a cardboard tray for fruit and vegetables that reduces the use of plastic by 95%.

Last July, the Spanish cardboard manufacturer Hinojosa signed a shareholding agreement with the French group ASV Packaging a manufacturer of printed corrugated packaging for the food industry. Eight months later, the two companies will be presenting new sustainable packaging solutions for the food industry at the Carrefour des fournisseurs de l'industrie agroalimentaire (CFIA) trade show, to be held in Rennes from March 12 to 14, 2024.

An exclusive solution: the Halopack tray

Since 2020, ASV Packaging has held an exclusive agreement with Dutch company Packable BV for the production and marketing of Halopack packaging in France. The same applies to Hinojosa in Spain and Portugal.

This food packaging system, made from around 85% recycled cardboard as an alternative to plastic trays, is designed for fresh and ultra-fresh foods packaged under modified atmosphere (MAP) or vacuum (SKIN) conditions. The liner film, which covers the bottom of the tray, is easily detached. The lidding film is heat-sealed, guaranteeing airtightness and product preservation. The tray is fully customizable, including the top film.

A fruit and vegetable packaging solution that avoids 95% of plastic

Hinojosa's heat-sealed cardboard trays for fruit and vegetables eliminate 95% of the plastic normally used for fruit and vegetable packaging. These trays are designed to run on current packaging lines used for plastic trays, without the need for equipment modification.

According to the manufacturer, the heat-sealed film on top guarantees a perfect, tamper-proof seal. Side ventilation of the tray extends product shelf-life. Packaging customization is possible in all formats.

Sumbox, the totally watertight corrugated packaging system

An alternative to the use of porex will also be presented at CFIA: Hinojosa's Sumbox, a 100% recycled, completely watertight corrugated packaging for transporting frozen products or products in ice.
